Utah deserves better? The state with one of the largest shortages of primary care physicians who responds by opening a measly 20 seats and offering to tax doctors to pay for medicaid expansion? Utah is already getting far more than it deserves by neglecting it's huge pool of great applicants, making students leave the state and take on huge amounts of debt, then expecting them to come crawling back and practice there. Sure, this isn't helping DO's with their status, but for towns like Enterprise, Ephraim, and Vernal, this is a huge deal. 250 seats a year will result in good peds and family docs and promote a healthier Utah. A second medical school in Utah is long overdue.
