CA Resident but I have some sort of tie to a mid-west state (lived there elementary school until I graduated HS then moved to CA, so it may help?)
Volunteering and Research
+1 year of medicinal research and also did related research overseas when I did a study abroad for a quarter
~120 hours of hospital research
~280 hours of clinical work for under-served populations
~120 hours of non-clinical volunteering for under-served population
Was a university student tutor in chemistry + elementary school tutor but probably <100 hours total
For leadership
+2 years president of a martial arts club and was an assistant in the official class
10 months coordinated for a local conference
Research mentor for a quarter (~40 hours)
5 LoR (2 sci + 1 non-sci, my PI and my research director), possible 6th LoR from my current boss but we'll see
Upon graduation, I started a job as a hospital process coordinator. I oversee daily operations in the hospital and work to improve the current standards and flow of work. Hard to describe in a sentence, but it's a pretty independent type of work and I could spin it as leadership (maybe!)
