Overall GPA: 3.12 (including grade replacement and classes from informal postbach)
Science GPA: 3.02
Informal Postbach GPA: 3.46 (37 credits-nearly all for repeats)
MCAT:
8/22/2013: 22 (7/6/9)
1/23/2015: 21 (10/3/8)
Im a Michigan resident living in Pontiac. My father is Puerto Rican, and mother is considered white (im not sure if this qualifies me as an URM. I speak spanish on a beginner level, but given a few months of work I can relearn it again. I was born in the US.)
As for the MCAT, I was scoring in the 510 range when I was registered for September for the new MCAT, however, I ended up voiding the exam due to a death in the family. I am now registered for a January date.
I have approximately 100 hours of shadowing, 500 hours of volunteer work, and all the needed letters of recommendation (2 science, 1 MD, 1 DO, and 1 from work).
I graduated from university 2 years ago with degrees in Biology and Psychology.
Given the Winter semester, I could raise both my overall GPA and sGPA to a 3.2 if I repeated certain science classes.
Is there any possibility of being able to matriculate into a DO school this cycle? Any chance for MSU or Chicago? Should I continue to repeat classes, or start a BMS program?
I appreciate any feedback!
