I stumbled upon this website as I searched for information on what to do next with my app. Currently I'm a sophomore student with a 3.9 gpa. My major is biology. I'm really interested in attending a top 20 medical university but I feel like i've reached a stump with my activities. I'm going to continue doing most of them but I just don't know what to add onto it. So I figured I'd come here. I'm not overwhelmed at all and I feel that I have a lot of free time on my hands that go to waste. I was thinking of joining a hobby club just for the fun of it. Aside from that I'm stumped. Any help or recommendations would be really appreciates! Also, here's a list of the activities I've done/ am doing:
Student government Member
Research (have been doing for a year almost) (my own project, once I complete it I should receive a first author publication)
peer tutor for biology
Volunteered 100 Hours at Hospital (Plan on joining a clinic and doing my volunteering there instead since hospital doesn't let me do the hands on that I want to do while physicians at clinics have told me that they would allow me to)
Shadowed 20 hours (Surgery and Anesthesiology) (plan on doing 80 hours of various specialties (cardiology, ophthalmology, radiology etc) before I apply)
Tutored troubled high school students for ~80-90 hours (Employment finished)
So yeah, any help would be really appreciated since I'm fairly lost beyond this point haha. (Not used to this feeling but I should get used to it since the future is going to always throw me into new situations where I'm lost.)
also, I know that my mcat will determine it at the end of the day, but I'll worry about the mcat when I get to that phase. These experiences are all invigorating and interesting so even if they don't get me into a top 20, I'll still be very happy because my end goal would be to become a physician anyway.
