How much does one study during medical school/residency?

I just need someone to explain what goes on. I was watching a youtube video where a 5th (4th?) year resident
(orthopedic surgery) mentioned studying all the time. Like ****, it never ends?
(Dr. Kristina Braly's husband who is a beauty blogger and anesthesiology resident for anyone who wants to watch.)
