It all depends on where. Anyone with a white collar job can afford a big house in Detroit or middle of nowhere, midwest, etc.
But in general, most things are affordable once you've paid off your loans, it's a question of how much padding you want in the bank, and where you prioritize your money. People with far less income than doctors get flashy, fast cars; a 3 year loan on a Boxster is 600/month.
Hell, you can even get a plane. A fork-tailed doctor killer (Beechcraft Bonanza 35) can be had for the price of a nice Honda.
