C- in lower div math, can I prove myself and make it up?

Really bad family emergency day before final and ended up taking final very depressed, hungry and tired. I started to faint but went through with it and ended up accidentally skipping the last page of the final and got marked down. The final itself was easy compared to the midterms and since it was curved I got the short (really, really short) end of the stick.

I am actually pretty good at math. So I was wondering, if I end up taking upper div math (linear algebra and multivariable) and do well on those, can I describe my experience somewhere in my secondary and how I was eager to prove myself so I took on a harder challenge? How will that be received by ADCOMS?

P.S. This was my second thread that I made today. Sorry if that's too much I'm new to SDN
