Are there a lot of thieves (and liars and cheaters) in your dental school? Thoughts?

lundi 19 octobre 2015

I go to dental school with a lot of great people. But over the few years I've been here, I've noticed that there is a glaring problem with thievery. People stealing other people's typodonts, articulators, burr blocks, blood pressure monitors, handpieces--you name it, people steal it! Even if you put your name on it.

I am shocked that people, who will one day be entrusted to do invasive, potentially life-threatening procedures on patients, are so willing to steal from others without any hesitation. I am also so sad that my dental school doesn't do more to address this--I think people who steal, lie, cheat, etc. should be expelled from dental school and banned from dentistry.

On a related note, there is a huge amount of cheating in my class, which again goes to the lack doing what's right and just doing whatever it takes to get ahead.

So my question to you is: does your dental school also have this problem? If so, what do you think is causing this? The ultra competitive nature of many dental schools? The lack of conscience that many students have because they grew up so entitled already?
