PhD to MD/PhD transfer for internationals

lundi 9 novembre 2015

Hi everyone, wondering if anyone could shed some light on a question I have..
First of all, a bit of background on myself. About to graduate from a 4 year integrated masters degree programme in biomedical sciences from a UK University quite well regarded in the area. Converted to the American GPA system, I come out at a 4.0 (according to Fullbright's conversion system). I also have a year's research experience in the US within a highly regarded pediatric research lab.
I'm going to apply for graduate school programmes in the US with the hope of being accepted for next year's intake. Applying to Vanderbilt, Baylor, Indiana and UCLA and maybe some more. My question is, if I was accepted into graduate school, would it be possible to transfer to the school's MD/PhD programme? I know Baylor and Vanderbilt both allow transfers like this and also fully fund international Md/PhD students, but require the applicant to have completed their undergrad degree at a US institution. Would this requirement be negated in the case of transferring from Phd to MD/PhD?
Thanks in advance for any help!
